Lisbon's Incubator

Startup Lisboa supports the creation of companies and their first years of activity. Founded in 2011 by the Lisbon Municipality, Montepio Bank and IAPMEI – Portuguese Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation, it's a private non-profit association that provides entrepreneurs office space as well as a support structure - mentoring, strategic partners, access to investment/funding, networking activities and a community based on knowledge and sharing.

We are facilitators.

We are daily committed to connecting our founders with people that matter to their business, facilitating access to investment, mentors, strategic partners and potential customers.

Much more than desks, chairs and 4 walls, Startup Lisboa promotes contacts with partners and potential customers. It is, undoubtedly, the epicenter of the new entrepreneurship ecosystem in Portugal. In addition, the dynamism, the people we know, the credibility and the projection that it gives our business makes Startup Lisboa a great place to consolidate an idea and make it a serious company with global ambitions.
— Gonçalo Fortes, Co-founder PRODSMART

We encourage the founders to look for what's best around the world to maximize their chances of growth and keeping their link with Portugal. Some members have teams abroad boosting their growth, and several participated in recognized accelerators like 500 Startups, TechStars and YCombinator, and we're proud of it.

Our story is their story.

Since February 2012, we have already supported more than 250 startups. Currently, we are incubating more than 90, half of them in the virtual incubation model.

Where would you go,
For your startup to grow?
There’s no place like Startup Lisboa!
— Djelal Osman, Co-founder Sension

We are based in Lisbon downtown in three historic buildings with work & residence spaces to welcome startups from all over the world.

Rua da Prata, 80

Opened in February 2012, the Startup Lisboa's HQ is a renovated six-story building with 200-year-old, where over 40 startups are boosting the entrepreneurship scene. Space features private office for each startup, coworking room for smaller teams, flexible 60 square meters room (can be converted into three meeting rooms), video conference room, dining room, kitchen, and lounge.

Rua da Prata, 81

In the summer of 2015, we opened a second building, right in front of the first one. Original from the 18th century, its first two floors were renovated to accommodate bigger teams.
The Silver Street (Rua da Prata) has become even more vibrant!

To become a member of Startup Lisboa, you must apply your project.

For non-members of Startup Lisboa, we offer the possibility to rent our venue at the Lisbon's Airport for meetings, conferences and other kinds of business events.
In case you're an entrepreneur arriving in Lisbon to participate in an accelerator or incubator in the city ecosystem, you can apply to Casa Startup Lisboa, our residence.

When you arrive in Lisbon to start your business, we have a home for you to live. Check availability here.

We are family

We are proud of our community and we're always looking for the best teams to start & grow their businesses with us. Applications from all over the world are accepted.

We are permanently open for online applications.
After a first screening of the forms, in regular periods, we invite some founders to pitch their idea to a jury session so we can meet the team, and better evaluate the business model and select the startups that will become members of our community.

This is what you can call a home away from home.
